In case you missed it, USA’s Justin Gatlin recently beat out Usain Bolt in the 100-meter dash World Championships, which is a pretty big deal. Not only was this Bolt’s final race, making Gatlin’s victory even sweeter, but Justin also beat an impressive field of runners who were 10 years younger and who were expected to pick him off.

Gatlin, 35 years old, is feeling the pressures of being an older athlete. But he doesn’t let that slow him down. He’s used recovery treatments like NovoTHOR to perform his best and stay on top of his game.

In the past, Gatlin has used cryotherapy and NovoTHOR to treat injuries and run against all odds. In fact, he found himself at the 2016 Olympic trials with nagging injuries. Just 48 hours before his trial, he was still running with an Ace Bandage on his leg. But the NovoTHOR bed changed everything. He received a few treatments before his race, and ran one of the fastest times in the world to make the Olympic team that year.

“Where would I be if I didn’t have NovoTHOR in my life?”

Gatlin explains that “as you become an older athlete, no matter how good you are, recovery takes longer, and staying in shape becomes more difficult. But the NovoTHOR bed helps sustain athletes and make careers longer.”

And it’s not just physical; it’s mental too. Gatlin says “you always have to rise to the occasion. As you become an older athlete, you see that you become more content. And having tools like NovoTHOR in my arsenal has sustained me and made my career longer.”

See him finally beat long-time champion (and friend of Gatlin), Usain Bolt:

Congratulations to Justin Gatlin of the Star Athletics Track Club! Here’s to many more victories in both running and recovery.
